Wordless Wednesday: Please don't eat the coneflowers

Brought out of the archives and dusted off, here we share one of my favorite photos of the lovely Inga

Our first CCI puppy on her first morning at our humble abode. Eating my fading coneflowers while looking directly into my eyes. And our first hint at the challenges to befall us as novice puppy raisers.

Friends and co-workers, would it surprise you to hear that Inga just celebrated her fourth birthday on July 9?  Four, y'all.  The lady's been a Skilled Companion Dog for nearly two years now.

Time passes by so quickly, we know.  But sometimes it happens in a way that warms the heart, it truly does.

  1. So cute - my first PIT Runza celebrated his 7th bday on July 9th. Good day! :)

    1. Happy Birthday hugs to Runza from us. I see that he was in the "favorite restaurant" litter and graduated as a guide dog. We don't have Runza's in our corner of the world. But one of my favorite BBQ joints in town is Oinkadoodlemoo. Maybe not a good name for a working dog. I can't even come up with a nickname to that one that preserves any level of dignity.

      Thanks for stopping by, Lisa!

    1. Isn't it? Inga was a bit of a stinker, but a total blast to spend time with over the months we had her.
Yaxley saw your old timey photos and tells me he wants to grow a beard. I guess we'll have to let you know later how that goes.

  4. Hi, I just joined my first wordless wed. blog hop and found your blog. We raise guide dog puppies for Southeastern guide dogs. We are taking our third puppy back on Saturday and are keeping our fingers crossed for him. He is an inveterate counter surfer. Inga is a real sweetie by the look of her. What a great photo. Your Wordless Wed, is indeed, very awesome!

    1. Right, so "how can we give them up?" You know, don't you? It's not about us puppy raisers. We wish you and Jam the best of luck as he moves on to advanced training. Yaxley is our third pup, as well. He'll go back to CCI on Aug 18.
      Keep in touch, won't you?

    1. Well, that's a Lab for ya. It's all about the mouth feel. Coneflowers are a gateway chew. The next you know, it's sticks and twigs. Then tree bark. ugh.

  6. Teri doesn't Squeee about doggies often, but oh! Inga has a look just like a mischievious cat! That is a 'calendar' worthy photo!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Teri! We appreciate the Squeee. We can never get enough of those! And yeah, she is a smart girl. Clever like a cat, you might say.

  7. Awww...Too cute! Inga looks a lot like Toby who I'm currently puppy sitting. If she's anything like Toby then I'm sure she got into more mischief then just chewing on coneflowers. Congratulations to her on being a Skilled Companion dog for 2 years!

    1. Ah, Colby, you know what I mean when I say Inga is a problem solver, right? The more intelligent a pup, the more challenging. At least for me as a novice puppy raiser. We had some adventures with the lovely Inga.
Her partner and his family just adore her. It is such a perfect match and I'm honored to have had even a small role in this.
